Mercer Island
A close-knit community nestled in between Seattle and the Eastside, Mercer Island is especially valued for its convenience and family-focused residents. Boasting excellent schools, beautiful parks, and dream-worthy views, Mercer Island offers a haven for those who desire an ideal blend of natural scenery and premium amenities. Mercer Island’s central location makes it the chosen home for many who work in Seattle or the Eastside, as it’s connected to either side by the Interstate 90 floating bridges.
A weekend on Mercer Island might include a day out and about exploring a park; Luther Burbank Park is a popular option and offers a sprawling 77 acres with almost a mile of Lake Washington waterfront! Enjoy a playground, sport courts, picnic areas, and try to catch a glance of some of the park’s almost 200 species of wildlife. Pioneer Park is another incredible outdoor experience—with 113 acres of forest that offers 6.6 miles of trails and even a section just for horseback riding, Pioneer Park is perfect for taking in outdoor scenes and enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer!
Another popular weekend activity to take advantage of is the Mercer Island Farmer’s Market, a seasonal, local gathering of over 50 vendors. While you’re out shopping, be sure to stop by Island Books (serving Mercer Island since 1973!), Terra Bella (find homeware, kitchenware and unique gifts), and Oh Chocolate (pick up artisan chocolates from this decades-old Mercer Island staple!). End the day with a well-deserved visit to the iconic Roanoke Inn to sample craft beer and classic American fare. (Plus, you’ll be able to experience a piece of Mercer Island history—this neighborhood bar has been open since 1914!)
